Washington Schools were locked down today after an apparent threat was found in a Facebook chat. Superintendent Dave Sextro says the schools were locked down based on advice from the Washington Police Department. According to the Washington Safety Center, police were notified by an outside law enforcement agency that a threat of school violence was made while two people were chatting on Facebook. The agency said that the threat referenced a Washington High School in Iowa. The Safety Center says no specific school was mentioned, and they weren’t sure which school they were referring to. Police will have an increased presence around the schools as they let out this afternoon.
