The WACO Warriors were in Lisbon last night in quarterfinal action taking on a team they played at the end of the regular season for the district championship. The Warriors won that regular season finale 38-8, and heading in Lisbon was coming off a dominating performance against neighboring district champs BGM-Brooklyn. A game which they won 28-0 on Monday. WACO beat HLV on Monday 30-15. Last night the two teams had big stops early on. Lisbon on their opening drive got down to the WACO 10 yard line but the Warriors stopped them on 4th down. Then the Warriors got down to the Lisbon 20 and were stopped on fourth down. WACO would force a punt and drive into Lisbon territory early in the second quarter and Spencer Shepherd would score on a 40 yard touchdown run. The Warriors would score two more touchdowns in the quarter with a Jordan Vradenberg 20 yard touchdown run and a Shepherd 4 yard punch in. It was 20-0 at halftime. WACO added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter a Justin Freyenberger 7 yard run and a Spencer Shepherd 45 yard touchdown run as WACO would win 34-8. On the night Shepherd had 20-carries for 185 yards and 3 touchdowns. Justin Freyenberger had 12-carrires for 51 yards and a touchdown and Jordan Vradenburg 6-carries for 45 yards and a touchdown. Brady Stauffer picked off a Lisbon pass and WACO recovered two fumbles. The Warriors improve to 12-0 and earn the school’s first trip to the semifinals. Lisbon ends the season 9-3 with two of their losses coming to WACO.
