The Community Foundation of Washington County (CFWC) has selected six local organizations to receive grant money this year. The group gives out annual grants from endowed funds managed through the CFWC. This year’s recipients include the Washington Community School District Foundation, which will use their funds for the John Jackson Music Scholarship, and the Lime Creek Township Board, which will use their grant toward putting flags in the Wellman cemetery.
Colleen Sojka is a member of the CFWC Board of Directors. She says the Foundation has been raising more funds through different events during the year.
Other organizations chosen by the CFWC include Camp Reece, Kalona Historical Society, the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc., and the Washington County Humane Society.
