The Fairfield Airport has been awarded a grant from the Federal Government. Robert Lyons, Airport Manager says they are entitled $150,000 each year under the Airport Improvement Program to use toward improvements at the airport. He says this money received this year will be used toward their master plan for the airport and are preparing to send out bids for snow plow equipment to be put into a new maintenance shed.
Lyons notes the funds can also be saved to be used every three years for larger projects. He adds if they save their funds, they will make upgrades to their terminal. Lyons says the Federal Aviation Administration administers funds to go to general aviation airports of all sizes across the country.
