A Washington school has been awarded a grant because of the need for recycling. April Cuddeback says Stewart Boosters is receiving $2,000 for the building of sandboxes. This project was funded by the Build with Bags Program.
Cuddeback says when applying for the grant, the use of the funds had to be given, how recycling would be promoted and the materials used had to be from recycled plastic. The Build with Bags Program is a cooperative of the Iowa Grocery Industry Association, Keep Iowa Beautiful, Metro Waste Authority in Des Monies, and Iowa Department of Natural Resources which works to reduce the environmental footprint of plastic bags.
