The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks finished the regular season with an impressive 47-7 Senior Night win over Central Lee Friday night. In a game heard on KCIIRadio.com Mid-Prairie, got through a slow start to take the lead 7-0 late in the first quarter on a Jaemin Powell to Aaron Kurts six yard touchdown pass. Mid-Prairie would force the first of four Central Lee interceptions on the next Hawk series as Kyle Mullet came down with the pick, his first of two on the night. The Golden Hawks turned that into points 11 plays later when Powell crashed in from two yards out. It was 13-0 Mid-Prairie. The Golden Hawks made it 20-0 going to the locker room on a Steven Jones two yard touchdown run. In the 2nd half Mid-Prairie grabbed more breathing room fullback Canaan Powell found paydirt from seven yards out. Following an interception by Jaemin Powell, Jones put up his second rushing touchdown from 12 yards out running the score to 34-0 Golden Hawks. Central Lee got on the board with a long pass play from Brian Boeck (Beck) to Andrew Mathison from 46 yards out. Following an interception by Reid Miller back up running back Logan Wadsworth finished the scoring with a 17 yard run.
With the victory Mid-Prairie finishes the regular season at 6-3 and 5-2 in district play. Mid-Prairie will be in playoff action Wednesday evening at Wilton. The Beavers and the Golden Hawks faced each other in the post season in 2005 and 2006 with both games in Wilton and with Mid-Prairie winning both. Kickoff is set for 7PM Wednesday evening.
