West Branch, IA – The Demons basketball teams traveled to West Branch Saturday night for a double header. The girls started the night off with a 57-45 win over the Bears. Syd Greiner had another monster game hitting 5-of-7 from behind the arc, finishing with 29 points. Laruen Vittetoe poured in 18 on 4-of-8 shooting from distance as well. The Demon girls improve to 6-1 and look to move to 3-0 in conference play Tuesday night when they host Ft. Madison.
The boys fell 69-64 in a game that was within eight for most of the night. Rylan Murray finished the night with 24 for the Bears, 11 of those at the line. Colin Steele led four scorers in double figures with 16 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter. Jake Redlinger finished with 11 points and gave the Demons the lead in the second half on a free throw after nailing hanging ten-foot jumper with contact. Kyle Roder had 13 points and Brock Kimbal dumped in 12 but it was too much Murry and Cody Brandt who had 21 for the Bears.
