Washington County officials responded to several calls for service Thursday evening as severe weather rolled through southeast Iowa. Washington County 911 Supervisor Cara Sorrells says that at approximately 9:10 last evening the Washington County Communications Center received reports of substantial damage in the 3200 block of Spruce Avenue northeast of Wayland. This included reports previously heard during KCII’s severe weather action team coverage Thursday evening of residents at 3229 Spruce Avenue being trapped within the structure and also extensive damage at 3205 Spruce Avenue. There were also reports from responding personnel of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Ainsworth Fire Department and the Crawfordsville Fire Department of debris, trees and power lines in the roadway. Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar reports the path of damage in Washington county to be approximately three miles long and a ¼ mile wide from southeast of Wayland across the Henry County line into Washington county. Officials are also reporting that northern and rural areas of the unincorporated town of Noble received debris and damage to structures. No injuries were reported as a result of the storm last evening. The KCII severe weather action team provided live coverage of the events from 8:20PM-10:15PM.
