The Southeast Iowa Superconference Track meet Thursday night at Winfield Mt. Union was unable to conclude because of weather. Officials including Southeast Iowa Superconference president and WACO and Winfield Mt. Union Superintendent Pat Coen made the decision that with severe weather in the area it was unsafe to continue the meet. Competition was stopped following the girls 400m hurdles and the boys 1600m medley.
At the point that the meet was halted Pekin was leading girls competition with 111 points. Columbus was second with 90 points, Winfield Mt. Union had a team score of 63 in 4th place, Highland stood at 53.50 in 6th place, 8th place WACO had 38 points, the Lone Tree Lions were right behind the Warriors with 36.5 points and IMS rounded out the 10 team field with 3 team points.
At the time of suspension Mediapolis was on top of the boys standings with 152 team points. Columbus is the top area team in the standings in 3rd place with 58.5 points. WACO stands in 5th place with 57 points, the Highland Huskies are 8th out of nine teams with 33 point and Winfield Mt. Union is 9th in the 10 team field with a score of 21 points. Coen tells KCII sports that conference officials will meet today and decide when or if the meet will conclude.
