A Kalona man has been convicted on four counts of making false claims to the IRS.
62 year old James Lavon Miller’s conviction stems from tax returns he filed in 2008 and 2009 for the tax years 2005 to 2008.Miller listed false amounts of interest income and federal withholding in his returns. He also claimed millions of dollars of tax refunds that he wasn’t entitled to.
Miller is being held in custody until sentencing. That date has not been set.
