In response to the hot weather and drought conditions, the Farm Service Agency has authorized emergency grazing of Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres in 25 Iowa Counties.
Locally, grazing of land enrolled in CRP has been approved for Iowa and Henry counties. The emergency grazing is limited to livestock producers who suffered pasture losses due to the ongoing drought.
Beginning August 2nd, all Iowa counties will be eligible for emergency haying and grazing of CRP acres. Producers interested in the program should call their FSA office.
