A special event was part of the Farmers Market last night. A new bronze head bust of George Washington was unveiled in Central Park. Steve Maxon from Kalona made the new bust and says the process was very straight forward. He says from the original, a rubber mold was made followed by a wax mold.

Maxon says the next step is to pour in the metal heated to 2100 degrees. He notes the new bust was made out of bronze in order to handle the elements.

The original head is on display in the Washington Public Library and the time capsules located in the new head as well as the concrete base will be opened July 4th, 2076.
