Thanks to early planting and dry weather for the majority of the past week, this year’s harvest is nearing completion. A report released earlier this week by the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows that corn harvested for grain or seed in southeast Iowa is 82% complete, an entire month ahead of normal. Only 40% had been harvested at this time last year. Over 80% of soybeans have been harvested in this part of the state, on pace with years past. Statewide, the soybean harvest is three weeks ahead of average.
