Last weekend’s rainfall of almost two and a half inches proved to be beneficial in relieving the drought conditions in our part of the state. As of Tuesday the 16th, the latest information from the National Climatic Data Center is revealing our part of the state as severely dry with some relief in parts of Keokuk and Iowa counties.
Dropping by nearly 12 percent, extreme conditions are still being reported across 64 percent of the state.
Far northwest Iowa has seen no change and is still classified as extremely dry. The most recent forecast models are now showing the drought conditions to stick around through January of next year. KCII will continue to monitor the drought conditions across the state as well as here in southeast Iowa.
