The Washington City Historic Preservation Commission has completed one step of a big project that is compiling information about the buildings in Washington’s downtown. Commission chair Mary Patterson says that they have proposed a Washington Historic Downtown District as part of nominating the area to be on the National Register of Historic Places. Volunteers helped to gather the information that includes historical photos, building plans, and other information, which can be found online on the Washington Public Library’s website. It’s listed in their “Digital Collection” section.
