With the help of a grant, a local non-profit will be making improvements to their animal shelter. Director of Paws and More in Washington Amber Talbot says that due to a grant they recently received they’ll be able to renovate their West Madison Street facility and redo the flooring. Talbot says each year they apply for about 15 grants. She says they use the grant money for projects and programs and in this case building improvements. She adds that fundraisers are still a critical aspect of running their non-profit as grant money doesn’t go towards operational costs.
