Today’s Washington County Board meeting included information on the new flood mapping and an update on Orchard Hill. County Planning and Zoning Administrator Steve Lafaurie addressed the Board regarding the new FEMA mappings affect on the County and the action they’ll be taking.
Lafaurie shared that there are around 47,000 acres in the new flood plain which encompasses 700 parcels of land. He shared that they found 98 family homes and 200 other structures in the flood plain. He suggested notifying all of those homeowners with a mailer and other information regarding what action they can take before the maps become effective the first of the year.
Architectural representatives for Shive-Hattery were also present. They shared that a portion of the additional work that needs to be done was recommended by the Washington Fire Department after their inspection of the Orchard Hill building. The $4,300 for these installations and additional work will come from the projects contingency fund. It was also said at the meeting the project is on schedule for its December 31st completion date.
