The value of farmland in Washington County rose during the past year, as it did across the state. According to the annual Iowa Land Value Survey the price for an acre of land in the county this year, similar to the statewide average, was around $8,000. That’s more than the average in southeast Iowa, which is around $6,000. While prices rose in this corner of the state, with the price up 8.2% or by about $450, farmers in the northwest corner of the state saw their acreage increase in value by nearly 37% or by more than $3,000.
