Area emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle accident yesterday afternoon. At around 1:30 a single vehicle accident was reported on US 218, north of the Highland exit. The driver, 20-year-old Stewart L Holloway of West Burlington, was driving northbound when he left the roadway, entering the east ditch, striking a tree and then coming to rest. Holloway was transported to University of Iowa Hospital via Washington County Ambulance. Other agencies responding include Ainsworth QRS, Riverside QRS, Ainsworth Fire, Riverside Fire, Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol. Charges are pending, as the accident remains under investigation.
