A semi and a four-door Volkswagen collided in the northbound lanes of Highway 218 shortly before noon yesterday. Both vehicles came to rest in the median approximately 1.5-miles north of G36, near mile marker 72. Traffic was reduced to one lane in both the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 218, causing traffic to slow for some time. It is unsure at this time if injuries were incurred.

Skid marks from the semi could be seen on the pavement, in the left lane of the northbound lanes.

Washington Ambulance, Riverside Fire, Washington County Sheriff’s personnel and Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene.
