Friday morning, at approximately 11:40, there was a car accident involving a four-door Volkswagen and a semi in the northbound lanes of Highway 218. The collision happened just north of G36, near mile marker 72. The Volkswagen was operated by Cindy Estela-Urquizo of Washington and Harry Anderson of Barnum was driving the semi. One subject was transported to the University of Iowa Hospital and another was taken to the Washington County Hospital.

The northbound and southbound lanes were each reduced to one lane for some time Friday. Iowa State Patrol, Ainsworth Quick Responders, Riverside Fire, Washington County Sheriff’s personnel and Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene.
