Panicking after going through thin ice may just turn a bad situation into a deadly one. Stay calm is the advice state DNR Fisheries Biologist Chad Dolan offers if you do go through this winter.
Dolan explains that people who do panic tend to wear themselves out, making matters worse. He says remain calm, keep your head above the water and call out for help.
According to Dolan, going to a body of water alone is always a bad idea.
