Tax season is upon us and according to the Iowa Department of Revenue more Iowans are filing electronically. In the past five years, those who file electronically has increased by 20% while the number of Iowans who submit “short forms” has decreased by 50%. Short forms cannot be filed online. The Iowa Department of Revenue is discontinuing use of the Iowa individual income tax short form (IA 1040A) and the Iowa corporation income tax short form (IA 1120A) effective for tax year 2013 due to the trend.

Those who used such forms before will need to file the IA 1040 or IA 1120 beginning this year.
