Hazardous materials can be found in homes. This week has been designated as Hazardous Materials Awareness Week in Iowa by Governor Terry Brandstad. A product’s label will state if it is hazardous, some common hazardous materials in homes include medications, cleaning products, pesticides, automotive products and paint thinners, among others. To ensure safety: household products should be stored according to label instructions, never mix household chemicals together and keep chemicals and medicaton out of reach of children.
