The Washington Demon boys basketball team will host Ft. Madison tonight in a Southeast Conference game.

The Demons are coming off of a rough loss to Fairfield, and need a game to bounce back on and get a win, or at least compete. Washington trailed by 10 or more for the majority of the game last Friday, and tonight’s game on paper could be even tougher.

Washington is scoring 55.6 points per game, and shooting under 40 percent from the field. Thomas Bump and Gage Redlinger lead the way in scoring with over 10 points per game, but as we saw against Fairfiled; if the Demons aren’t all working together, the offense is stalled.

Ft. Madison comes into the game undefeated, scoring 60 points per game, along and shooting 44 percent from the field and just under 40 percent from three point range. Their leading scorer is Miles Wentzien with 20.6 points per game, while behind him is David Nagel with 13.1 points per game. Past those two players the Bloodhounds really fall off in terms of scoring.

Demon head coach Bryce Smeins says this week may be one of the toughest as they face Ft. Madison here tonight and then Keokuk on Friday, but their home record is much better than their road and his team needs to come out and show it.

“We have a tough week. Ft. Madison may be the toughest team in the league, or Keokuk might be on paper, and we have them both [this week]. So we’ll need to play much better than we did [Friday], and we’ve played well at home, we’re 4-1 at home and I think we’re 0-6 on the road right now, so getting that first road win has been tough for us,” Smeins said. “We’ll need to play a really good basketball game on Tuesday to have a chance to win that one.”
