Winfield- Mt. Union basketball had a split last night with Highland in a conference double header.
In the girls’ game, WMU got back on track with a win over the Huskies 46-38. The Wolves only led by three after half, but pulled ahead further in the third quarter to get the distance they needed to hang on for the win.
WMU had seven players with five or more points, and was led by Shelby Therme with nine. Highland was led by Chelsey Lampe with 14, while Cheyanne Adamson had nine and Bridget Murphy had eight for the Huskies.
In the boys’ game, Highland had control of the game from start to finish. The Huskies jumped out to a 24-15 lead at the half, and would only add to it as the game went on. Highland ended up winning 63-46.
WMU had three players in double figures, and was led by Zach Davis with 14, while Sam Jennings and Garrett Baker both had 10. Highland was led by Josh Brase with 23 points, and was backed up by Chris Ford with 18 points.
WMU moves on to play Lone Tree on Friday, while Highland will host Wapello on Friday.
