Authorities are looking for a sex offender who escaped in Burlington. According to Andrea Wright, executive officer with the Department of Corrections, Shane Lieb took off while being transported by his mother to the city’s Work Release Facility. He had just been discharged from the Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility, where he was held since April of 2011.

Wright says the 40-year-old was preparing to serve his special sentence supervision, an enhanced charge that follows the completion of a sex offender’s regular sentence. She says those charged with a sex offense receive a 10 year or lifetime special sentence. Lieb was given the lifetime supervision when sentenced for third degree sexual abuse in 2009.

An arrest warrant has been filed for Lieb, who’s described as a six foot tall, 220 pound, white man.
