The final day of the 2015 Iowa High School Athletic Association’s State wrestling takes place today at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, and several KCII area wrestlers are vying for medals at the state tournament.

Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union have two wrestlers competing in the tournament’s final day of competition. Junior Josh Keller (46-3 overall) is into the championship match in the 106 pound weight class and wrestlers Crestwood’s Michael Millage (45-1 overall) for the state title. Senior Kyle Davis (43-7 overall) wraps up his wrestling career in the 7th place match at 285 pound weight class against Knoxville’s Brock Caviness (45-12 overall).

The Highland Huskies have two wrestlers competing in Saturday’s medal round. Sophomore Bryce West has advanced to the championship match in the 120 pound weight class and faces West Marshall’s Cole Needham (48-4 overall) for the title. Bryce’s brother, sophomore Drew West, is vying for a 3rd place finish in the tournament after losing a 5-4 decision to Underwood’s Alex Thomsen (46-0) in the quarterfinal’s of the championship bracket. Drew West is paired up with St Edmond’s Cole Allison (30-6 overall) in the consolation semifinal’s.

Sigourney-Keota has two wrestlers into Saturday’s competition. Senior Nathan Fritz (49-4 overall) is still in the running for a third place finish in the 145 pound weight class, facing Audubon’s Brad Kerkhoff’s (32-3 overall) in the consolation semifinal round. Junior Lane Boender (44-12 overall) has just one match today, competing for seventh place in the 152 pound weight class against Logan-Magnolia’s Brady Charbonneau (51-12 overall).

Finally, Lone Tree senior Alex Yedlik (46-5 overall) is vying for a third place finish in the 145 pound weight class, facing Clarion-Goldfield-Dows’s Brady Brott (42-8 overall) in the consolation semifinals.
