Drought conditions in Iowa have lessened over the last week. According to this week’s U.S. Drought Monitor report, only 24.95 percent of Iowa is considered abnormally dry, down from 46 percent last week. Most of Washington, Louisa, Henry and Jefferson counties are in the abnormally dry category.
At this time last year, 5.3 percent of the state was in severe drought, 40.84 percent was in moderate drought and 78.53 percent was abnormally dry.
