In just 18 career college games, Cornell College first baseman Walker Breard has made his presence felt in the middle of the Rams batting order. The former Washington Demon sits a top the Midwest Conference in two offensive categories. He has sent seven home runs over the fence, two more than any other player in the Midwest Conference, and his .818 slugging percentage is 83 points better than any other hitter in the league.
Breard has won numerous regional and national awards for a stellar 27 inning stretch earlier this month against Illinois College. Breard totaled three doubles, four home runs, seven runs and 10 RBIs while reaching base 11 times in 14 plate appearances on April 9th and 10th against the Blueboys. His performance earned him NCAA Division III Hitter of the Week honors by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. He was selected to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week and also was the Midwest Conference Hitter of the Week.
Breard and the Rams are 14-14 overall and sit second in the Midwest Conference South Division with a 7-5 record. The Rams play a conference double header against the Beloit Buccaneers (15-13 overall; 5-7 MWC North) in Beloit, WI.
