The season for the Mid-Prairie baseball team (13-14) ended last night in a heartbreaking 8-7 loss to the Central Lee Hawks (7-15).
The two teams battled back and forth throughout last night’s game. Central Lee took the lead for good when they scored a single run in the top of the seventh inning. The Golden Hawks battled back in the bottom of the inning with runners at second and third with one out, but were unable to push the tying and winning runs across the plate.
The Mid-Prairie offense was led by two sophomores, as Braeden Neilson went three for five on the night with a pair of doubles, while Jared Miller went three for three, knocking three singles.
The Golden Hawks have a lot to look forward to next season as they lose just one senior from a team that finished the year 13-14 on the season.
The winning Central Lee Hawks will take on West Burlington tonight in second round action.
