Southeast Iowa continues to deal with wet fields following heavy rain that fell during storms in the past month. According to this week’s Iowa Crop Progress & Condition Report, nearly half of the topsoil on area fields have surplus moisture. Keota farmer John Heisdorffer shares the wet conditions have impacted his soybeans, which are uneven and have weak stands. Heisdorffer, a member of the American Soybean Association Board of Directors, says he learned that farmers are in the same situation across the Midwest during a recent meeting in Chicago: too much rain. For the most part, soybean conditions in southeast Iowa remain in good or excellent condition.
