Jeff Dicks, new superintendent for the Washington Community School District, has been at the helm for three weeks now. He tells KCII News that the transition the the new district is going well, not only for himself but also for his family. He adds he was pleased to see the bond measure for the preschool addition to Stewart Elementary pass on June 30th, saying it was a clear message that the community supports progressive education.
He says it is a bit overwhelming to have two facility projects, the preschool and new auditorium, on his plate in his first year with the district. But he adds they may be a challenge this school year but they provide opportunities for growth for students and the community as a whole.
