For the Mid-Prairie football team, last season was a tough one. The Golden Hawks finished the year at 4-6 on the season, however, three of those losses were by a total of just four points combined.

Coach Pete Cavanagh will have a veteran team this year, led by a large contingent of seniors. The Golden Hawk offense looks promising, led by the return of both quarterbacks from last year’s squad. Senior Ryan Cortum hit on 54 of 118 passes last season an average of nearly 46%, averaging nearly 16 yards per completion. The other Mid-Prairie quarterback is junior Isiahn Powell, who threw 21 times last year.

Leading receiver Colin Weber was lost to graduation, however the Golden Hawks do return their second leading receiver in Levi Duwa. The junior grabbed 13 passes last year, averaging over 14 yards per catch.

On the ground, Mid-Prairie returns five of their top six rushers from last season. Second leading rusher Nolan Faselt carried the ball 57 times last season. The senior averaged nearly seven yards per carry last year.

The Golden Hawks open the season on August 28th with a trip to Durant, to try to avenge last year’s 7-6 loss.
