The Iowa Mennonite School volleyball team will be on their home floor for the first time in 2015 tonight when they welcome the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons to Hillcrest Union. The match also serves as the Southeast Iowa Superconference opener for both teams.
IMS opened the season on August 27th at the Fairfield Quad event. Iowa Mennonite was 1-2 on the night against top competition. IMS was swept by the Eddyville-Blakesburg Rockets who are currently ranked number five in class 2A. IMS bounced back to beat the Lady Dees from Albia by matching 25-17 and 25-17 scores. Iowa Mennonite ended their night against class 4A Fairfield. The Trojans scored the sweep over IMS 11-25 and 11-25.
Statistically IMS is led on the year by Jess Bender with nine kills and four blocks. Alijah Beatty leads the team with 19 assists and Rachel Miller has 18 digs for IMS. Last season IMS was 4-12 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference. One of those wins in league play came against Louisa-Muscatine on the road. IMS took the match three games to one by scores of 24-26, 25-13, 25-21 and 25-11. Action between Iowa Mennonite and the L-M Falcons begins tonight at 7:30 at Hillcrest Union.
