It’s the day of reckoning for Highland School officials, as voters in the district head to the polls today to decide whether or not they want a centralized elementary school.

On the ballot is a $10.6 million bond issue to build a new elementary school to be located next to the existing high school and middle school. The new school would replace the present elementary schools in Ainsworth and Riverside. Officials say going to a single elementary school would save the district $250,000 annually.

Polls will be open from noon until 8 p.m. today, with polling locations open at the Ainsworth Fire Department and Riverside City Hall. The issue needs a 60% yes vote to pass.

Be sure to vote, then stay tuned for live election results from the Washington County Courthouse on KCII Radio and KCIIRadio.com.
