Washington received approximately eight-tenths of an inch of rain Monday. More rain is expected throughout today and into the early hours Wednesday. A flash flood watch remains in effect for Washington, Louisa, Keokuk, Jefferson, Henry and Johnson counties through this evening. Thunderstorms are expected to produce heavy rainfall as they move across Iowa today which may lead to flash flooding of small creeks and streams.

As of 6 a.m. Tuesday, the English River at Kalona was over nine feet below flood stage. The Iowa River at Lone Tree, Columbus Junction and Wapello was also below flood stage. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
