As people travel on West 5th Street in Washington they can see a project growing north of the road. Crews have been working on the city’s new water tower. Ground was broken on the site in July and the finished tower will add 250,000 gallons of water storage. City Administrator Brent Hinson tells KCII News, things are going well and completion of tank field construction is expected in mid-March. The tower will still need to be painted, in addition to other work. Last year, residents of Washington were able to vote on three possible design options created by local artist Pedro Lujano.

The water tower project is expected to be finished in August with the tower operational and the old tower will be demolished.
