Two long time rivals will be reacquainted tonight on the hardwood. The Washington Demons basketball teams will split up this evening as they battle the Mount Pleasant Panthers in a pair of Southeast Conference showdowns.
KCII Sports will join the Demon boys’ basketball team (3-6 overall; 1-2 Southeast) on their trip to Mount Pleasant (5-3 overall). This marks the first of two meetings between the schools this season. Washington will look to even their conference record after falling in a competitive battle Tuesday versus the Fort Madison Bloodhounds, 57-54. Washington’s Derek Anding’s game tying three-point attempt at the end of regulation fell off the rim. Sophomore Jack Redlinger provided an offensive spark off the bench, scoring a team-best 13 points.
Mount Pleasant saw their five game winning streak snapped in Iowa City Monday, falling 66-58 to the City High Little Hawks in non-conference action. The Panthers have won all of their conference games this season, winning league games by an average of eight points. Sophomore Brady Sartorius leads Mount Pleasant’s offensive attack, scoring an average of 15.5 points per game. Sophomore Jordan Magnani is second on the team with 11.5 points scored a game, and leads the Panthers with 28 assists.
Live coverage of the varsity boys’ basketball game from Mount Pleasant High School begins with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show at 7 p.m. on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com.
