The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team continues to make strides despite remaining winless on the year after a 45-33 defeat at the hands of North Cedar on Friday night in Clarence.

. In a game heard on AM and FM KCII, North Cedar starting hot, going on a 16-6 run that lasted the entire first quarter, spurred on by 13 points from swingman Aaron Woodward in the first frame alone. Mid-Prairie cut the deficit to five points twice in the second quarter, only to see the Knights respond and hold a 23-16 lead going to the break.

The Knights began the third quarter with a mini run to push the lead to 14, their largest of the night and again the Golden Hawks chipped away, climbing with four late in the frame. North Cedar would build their lead into double figures twice more with Mid-Prairie cutting it down to five on each occasion only to be done in by a missed shot, a North Cedar run or one of 28 turnovers the Hawks committed on the night.

Mid-Prairie was led on the night by Ryan Cotrum and Noah Altenhofen with eight points each. With the loss Mid-Prairie is now 0-8 in conference and overall on the year.
