The girls’ annual Southeast Iowa Super Conference shootout takes place this Saturday all across the region. The yearly event pits the North Division teams against their counterparts in South Division standings. The North division teams are the host school for this year’s shootout games.
The second best teams in each segment of the conference will meet in rural Riverside, where the the Highland Huskies (15-4 overall) will host the Central Lee Hawks (15-4 overall). This marks the first meeting between the schools this season, and the two have combined to win 30 games on the court.
The Lone Tree Lions (12-6 overall), the fourth ranked team in the North division, welcome the New London Tigers (11-8 overall) to town for a postseason tune up. Lone Tree has seen their win total increase by four games from a year ago, while New London has matched their win total from last season.
The WACO Warriors (6-13 overall), the seventh place team in the North division, entertain the Cardinal Comets (4-13 overall) at Bob Hilmer Court. Both teams found success in the early part of their seasons. WACO won five of their six games prior to the holiday break, while Cardinal won three of their first four games of the season.
The W-MU Wolves (4-16 overall), the eighth best team in the North division, welcome the Van Buren Warriors (3-17 overall) to Winfield for the shootout. Both teams have found some success in the new year. W-MU won all four of their games after January 1, while all three of Van Buren’s victories have come after the holiday break.
Since the South Division only has eight members, the Wapello Arrows (5-14 overall) will host the Iowa Mennonite School (1-16 overall) in the final game of the event. Two of the Arrow’s five wins this season have come against IMS.
The girls’ SEISC shootout is set to tip off with the junior varsity games at 6 p.m. Saturday.
