The Keota Eagles boys basketball team travels to Mid-Prairie Thursday to play for the district championship in class 1A district 11.
The Eagles will match up with fellow member of the South Iowa Cedar League, the Montezuma Braves. The Eagles enter tonight’s game with an overall record of 17-6, they finished as champions of the east division of the South Iowa Cedar league with a 13-4 mark in league play. Keota advanced through the district semifinals with a 61-53 win over rival Sigourney on Tuesday. Isaiah Hahn led the Eagles in the game with 15 points, Avery Conrad recorded a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. On the season Keota is led by Zach Mousel and his 278 points, fifth best in the South Iowa Cedar League East. Jacob Wickenkamp leads the Eagles with 102 assists, second in the conference, and Avery Conrad holds the team lead with 190 rebounds, third best in the South Iowa Cedar League.
Montezuma comes into tonight’s game with an overall mark of 21-2, the Braves were co-champions of the South Iowa Cedar League west division with a 16-1 record in conference play. The Braves advanced to the district title game, blasting Wayne of Corydon last round 61-37. The Braves were led by Logan Price with 17 points. On the season Montezuma is led by Brody McKeag at 16 points per game, fourth in the conference. McKeag also leads the Braves with 70 assists, second in the South Iowa Cedar League West. Logan Price leads Monte with 182 boards on the year, fourth best rebounder in the conference.
These two teams met once this season with the Braves beating the Eagles 63-57 in Montezuma. Brody McKeag had 22 points to lead Monte, Keota was led by Jacob Wickenkamp’s 19 points and 12 rebounds. These two teams play for the district title tonight at Mid-Prairie High School.
