The No. 14 ranked Mid-Prairie girls basketball team defeated South Tama in the regional finals last Saturday to reach their first state tournament since 2013.

Despite the fact that they have 10 days between that win and their state quarterfinal game in Des Moines, Mid-Prairie is staying busy with many celebrations and special events. This week Mid-Prairie head girls basketball coach Stephen Bender shared the itinerary for his team’s trip. The week includes a celebration sponsored by Hills Bank, a send off at Mid-Prairie High School on Sunday and practices at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City and the Knapp Center in Des Moines.

The Golden Hawks play No. 2 ranked Center Point-Urbana in the state quarterfinals on Tuesday at 3:15p.m. You can hear all of the action live on AM and FM KCII with pregame on the air at 2:45 live from Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
