Residents of Kalona and Ainsworth went to the polls Tuesday. Kalona voted on whether or not $3.9 million in bonds would be issued for an addition to the community center. Votes were tallied and the measure passed 400 to 204. For the bond to pass, at least 60% of voters had to support it with a yes vote.
Citizens of Ainsworth voted to fill a vacant seat on the city council. Three people ran for the seat, including Douglas D. Donald, Dawn H. Stewart and Michael Eugene Sypherd, Sr. In the end Dawn H. Stewart won the seat with 48 votes. Douglas D. Donald received 24 votes and Michael Eugene Sypherd, Sr. got 14 votes.
