Authorities responded to a traffic stop where subjects fled on foot Tuesday night near Keota. At 10:16 p.m. a deputy reported being in pursuit of a red pickup truck westbound on 240th Street from Hemlock Avenue near West Chester. Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol responded. A deputy then reported those involved had fled the vehicle on foot on Cedar Avenue, north of 145th Street.
Twenty-year-old Kyle Eakins of Keota was arrested for felony eluding, operating while intoxicated – second offense, interference with official acts, no drivers license, three stop sign violations, speed, and careless driving. Also, pending a DCI lab result there is a charge for possession of a controlled substance. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
