A recent trend of warmer temperatures has attracted visitors back to Lake Darling State Park. Andy Roach, Park Manager at Lake Darling State Park, estimates around 1,000 people have visited the park over the last three weekends. He has seen people hiking on the park’s trail system, visiting the newly constructed four season cabins, and fishing at the lake.

Roach says anglers will find a generous supply of fish at Lake Darling this spring, housing large mouth bass as long as 18 inches, and crappie and blue gill ranging from eight to nine inches.

Lake Darling State park is located one mile west of Brighton on Highway 78. Reserve your stay at a Lake Darling cabin by visiting the Iowa DNR website. For more information on the park’s hours and amenities, call (319) 694-2323.
