The leading scorer on this year’s Highland Huskies girls’ basketball team (18-6 overall) has been recognized as one of the best players in Iowa. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has named Highland junior guard Kelsey Hora to this year’s Class 2A All-State third team.

Hora ended the year as one of the best all-around basketball player in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North, ranking in the top five in the conference in points scored, assists, and steals. Her 398 points scored led the Huskies and was the third highest total in the league. Hora’s 99 assists were one less than senior Cheyanne Adamson for the team lead, and ranked her fourth in the conference. Her 98 steals were second in the SEISC North, one behind Pekin’s Beth Atwood for the conference lead.

This is the latest athletic accolade for Hora, who was named a first-team all-conference player last month. The Huskies finished the regular season 18-6 overall, a three win improvement from last season.
