It’s been a rainy year so far, and Urban Conservationist Wayne Peterson wants to help people turn it to their advantage. Louisa County Conservation is hosting an event on Saturday, May 21st, to teach people about rain gardens. Water run-off can create standing water in yards, wet basements, and even flooding. In this free workshop attendees will learn how to plan, install, and maintain a rain garden, which can help divert water from the home, while adding beauty to the yard.

The event, which runs from 9 am to 11 am, will start indoors and then move to the Chinkapin Bluffs Recreation Area, where attendees will get the chance to help install a rain garden for all to enjoy. Register before May 19th by calling 319-523-8381, or visit LouisaCountyConservation.org for more information.
