Street patching, utility rates, a site plan for a new Casey’s General Store, realtor proposals for the old library building and a third change order for the sewer separation project at the courthouse are all on the agenda for tonight’s Washington City Council meeting. A five percent increase to water, sewer and garbage rates will be considered in the first reading regarding utility rates. If adopted water would go from $3.48 to $3.65, sewer from $3.47 to $3.64 and garbage from $6 to $6.40.

The third change order for the sewer project in the courthouse area is estimated at $9,300. The delay was due to the fact that the United States Postal Service in Washington, D.C., had to approve the work, as it is connected to the sanitary sewer at the post office. Also, pavement replacement of Monroe near the sewer work will be discussed.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. in council chambers.
