The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is taking part in a national program to promote safe storage of firearms. Project Childsafe is a program developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and partners with several firearm manufacturers and law enforcement. Washington County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Jared Schneider said they have free gun locks and safety kits on hand at the Sheriff’s Department. He encourages anyone with children and firearms in the house to reach out to them to take advantage of the program.
